Long Term Care problems Solved
Ask the expert, Dennis H. Lentin
Long Term Care Insurance, who needs it?
If you are over forty years of age, probably you. To determine who needs
Long Term Care Insurance, let us first look at who does not need LTCI.
People who have a net worth of over one million dollars do not need LTCI,
but they might want it, as they did not amass their wealth by spending their
money, when they could have spent an insurance company’s money. If you
know, positively, that they are not ever going to be sick, have an accident,
be incapacitated in any way, or know that when your time comes, you will just
put your head on a pillow and not wake up in the morning, you do not need LTCI.
By this past statement we have not eliminated anyone from needing Long Term
Care Insurance, except the very wealthy and those who qualify for Medicaid.
So, now we have to determine is Long Term Care Insurance appropriate for you
and if so, what type?
There are three types of Long Term Care Insurance, Facility Care, Home Health
Care, and Comprehensive Care.
What are the basic differences between these plans?
Facility Care is just what it says it is, care in an Assisted Living Facility
and or a Nursing Home.
Home Health Care is care ONLY in the home, whether it is your home or the
home of a relative. Be careful, some policies are very restrictive, limiting
the type of care and who provides it.
Comprehensive Care is the best and most complete, covering you at home, in
an Adult Day Care Facility, an Assisted Living Facility and a Nursing Home.
