Long Term Care problems Solved
Ask the expert, Dennis H. Lentin
What difference does it make if I wait? After all I am 74 and nothing has happened yet.
If you do not have another birthday before you buy Long Term Care Insurance,
financially, it will make no difference. If you stay as healthy as you are
today it will not make a difference.
Put yourself in the place of Mrs. Carter,
a new
client. Mrs. Carter decided to put off buying Long Term Care because she was
to busy and did not have the time. She had looked at a plan she liked and it
was affordable for her.
Mrs. Carter called me 3 months after I had visited
with her and said she was ready. I asked her if there was anything different
then
when I last spoke to her. She said, “ well I had a minor stroke, but
my doctor says I am fine now”. I had to tell Mrs. Carter that she was
no longer eligible for the plan she wanted, also she had to wait for at least
a year before
any company would even consider her, and that the policy would cost substantially
more and would be with a secondary company.
Mrs. Carter waited for a year and
purchased a plan that cost her double what she could have originally paid.
