Long Term Care problems Solved
Ask the expert, Dennis H. Lentin
My mother recently purchased a Home Health Care plan. She then had a stroke and will spend the rest of her days in assisted living. Why won’t they pay for her assisted living costs?
Many people today, especially in South Florida, listen to their neighbors
who tell then that they will not need a comprehensive plan since they plan
to stay
at home. The reality is that we do not know what is going to happen. Most of
the Nursing Homes are full, with a waiting list. Why is that?
Nobody wants
to go to a Nursing Home unless they have to. Sometimes it is much too difficult
to stay at home if you need twenty-four hour skilled care. Some people buy
a Home Health Care plan that will only take care of you in your home.
A comprehensive
plan costs more, but will take care of you at home or in a facility. Don’t
be penny wise and pound foolish. Only buy a stand alone Home Health Care plan
if it is all you can afford.
