What is the difference between Home Health Care, Comprehensive Care and Long Term Care?
Home Health Care refers to the broad range of medical, rehabilitative, personal
and social services provided to people who are recovering from injury or illness,
or requiring assistance in performing the most essential daily activities,
i.e. bathing, eating, toileting, dressing, transferring and continence. Home
Health Care occurs in one home or the home of a friend or relative.
Some insurance policies do not cover homemaking services and may be an out
of pocket expense.
Comprehensive Care is the combination of Home Health Care, Adult Day Care,
care in an Assisted Living Facility, Rehabilitation Facility, Hospice Care
or care in a Nursing Home.
Long Term Care is any type of care that is expected to last at least ninety
days or more. When we hear the term “long Term Care we usually think
of an insurance policy that covers any or all of the aforementioned items.
