I am a Federal Employee, what does the Federal Government do for Long Term
Care?
The new Federal Long Term Care program has just been introduced. It is a
Tax Qualified plan that has an elimination period with a minimum of thirty
days.
There are very few choices, you must use an agency for Home Health Care and
Home Health Care is limited to 75% of Nursing Home Care. In Florida 100% is
considered proper. Active Federal Employees that may not be able to purchase
individual LTC plans will be guaranteed the opportunity of purchasing Federal
LTC.
What do you think will happen to the rates in the future? The guidelines of
the plan were supposed to not allow future rate increases, but guaranteed issue
will prohibit that. Conclusion, if you are healthy, a private LTC plan will
be less expensive.
